Off-Balance

Realizing I have not been very consistent with my blog posts so far in 2010 - sorry :(
And I havn't been very good at consistent "quiet times" with God, either.
But I have been pretty joyful.   Does that count?

Seems like I can only manage 2-3 things really well at a time -- and the rest slide.
Right now I feel I am doing really well in the following areas:
1) homeschool
2) SS teacher,   and
3) organizing the upcoming AWANA store (kids spend points they've earned on little prizes).
(Oh - and #4 would have to be reading a really great book:  The Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follet)

Quality play time with kids?  B-
Quality time with Dan?  B  (partially not my fault - work has kept him busy lately)
Clean House?   C+  (mainly 'cuz my Dad is visiting and doing dishes, and the kids do chores now)
Updating this blog?  B- (?)
Updating my family blog with pictures?   D
Exercise?  D

Yep, it is the age-old life balance thingy-majiggy.  (there is a much more intelligent word on the tip of my brain, but I am too time unbalanced right now to go look it up....)

How is everyone else doing with a balanced life in 2010?

  1. I'm actually doing okay on the balance - for once! You know me: WORKWORKWORKWORKeverythingelse. But I cut back on my workload this week, so now just have to be sure not to take anything new on. :)

The snow/ice has meant no running lately, but am hoping enough thaws today that I can go tomorrow.

  2. My life is a constant balancing act where I have to make adjustments as God nudges me (sometimes through my husband). Right now my quiet times are solid, homeschool is on track, house is pretty organized, but I'm not doing much else. When the other activities get into full swing, that's when I start juggling again. Of course, I think I get cut some extra slack this year with the baby coming, right? :) Glad you've posted again.

  3. Britt, I'm tempted to say your grade for family blog should be F+. But I grade on a curve and your mother has assumed the new role of taking forever to blog so she receives an F+ and get a D. :)

Keely, totally you get extra slack for being pregnant! Right everyone?

As for me and balancing . . . well . . . I'm literally trying to balance a bunch of trunks on a scale to see how much they weigh right now. We're just trying to make it back to Iowa all in piece. :)

  4. Kari, you get slack for working, like, 5 different jobs? in a foreign country. Keely, you definitely get slack for being pregnant... all while keeping track of 3 other children. Julie- you get slack for new baby and toddler AND moving overseas (or BACKseas?)
    Anway, I get slack for.....
    um....
I'll get back to you ladies :)
